Achebe and Kafka

Authors

Abstract

In spite of the different cultural backgrounds and life experiences, both authors have tried in their own ways to thematise the obsessions of modern man. They have presented in their works, the ways to thematise the misery, the fear, the yearnings, and the despair of man in a changing society. Their themes are full of tragic conflicts; generation conflicts, loneliness, and alienation. At the end of serious efforts to draw some meaning in life, most of Kafka's and Achebe's protagonists failed in their struggles.
